The leader of the regional state of Puntland has traveled to Eyl district as resignations continue to rock the impending election of a local Governor.
Several regional Members of Parliament (MPs) have resigned from the committee that is meant to elect the new Governor of Eyl district.
Puntland’s President Said Abdullahi Deni traveled to the district to steady the ship.
He traveled to Eyl on Saturday, September 3.
Several local officials accompanied Deni as he toured the region.
Kaah Party, which President Deni leads, is currently embroiled in internal conflicts. Two factions have emerged.
The two factions are fighting to see who becomes their new chairman.
