Puntland Parliament Approves New Cabinet Unanimously

Somalia’s northeastern state of Puntland has approved the new cabinet that President Said Abdullahi Deni appointed unanimously.

Sixty-three out of the 66 members who were present at the Saturday session, voted in favor of the state’s newly appointed cabinet.

According to parliament’s Speaker Abdihakin Mohamed Ahmed, President Deni attended the session too.

In his address to parliament, President Deni thanked the MPs for the overwhelming show of support extended to his administration.

President Deni’s 48-member cabinet can now start working.

The new cabinet has specific tasks. President Deni expects the cabinet to boost growth while sorting out the public finances of the country’s oldest federal state.

Puntland is an oil-rich state too.

The unanimous approval comes a few days after the cabinet was recently sworn in.

Before putting them up to a vote, parliamentarians heard the new Council of Ministers speaking on their educational backgrounds, achievements, and memoirs.
