Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni stands accused of sowing discord in the election of regional legislators.
Opposition politicians vying for the upcoming presidential elections in Somalia have accused Deni of interfering with the selection and election of the regional Members of Parliament (MPs).
They spoke out against the selection of 17 MPs from SSC-Khaatumo until the government, opposition, and other stakeholders reach a political agreement.
In their view, any political agreement needs to be agreed upon before or by December 31, 2023 to accord candidates enough time to prepare for next month’s polls.
