Puntland received 40,000 COVID-19 vaccines from the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) on March 16.
The vaccines were part of the 300,000 doses of Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine that Somalia received from COVAX earlier this week.
Authorities in Puntland indicated that the doses they already received would be use for inoculating frontline workers.
Elderly people who are at risk of contracting the virulent disease are also to benefit from this round of vaccination.
Security personnel as well as individuals diagnosed with chronic health conditions in Puntland would benefit from it too.
