Scholars from the regional state of Puntland have demanded the resignation of President Said Abdullahi Deni with immediate effect.
The intellectuals wrote to President Deni on July 12.
Mostly, they complained about President Deni’s handling of the recent clashes in Bosaso, a town in Puntland.
The deadly clashes took place on Monday, July 11.
To add insult to injury, Deni’s administration turned back a plane that was carrying aid to the region.
Sa’adiya Yassin, the First Deputy Speaker of the House of the People (Lower House), was in that plane too.
According to the scholars, President Deni was behind the armed confrontation.
