The regional state of Puntland has sent some of its troops to Galmudug to help in the fight against Al-Shabaab.
On Friday, September 3, Governor Abdilatif Muse Nuru San Yare of Puntland’s Mudug Region, confirmed this news.
According to sources, Al-Shabaab militants attacked Amara, a town in Galmjudug.
Apparently, the militants targeted a military base in the town.
Governor Yare said that the forces deployed to Galmudug are experienced in fighting the extremists. He said the troops would remain in the region until they liberate it from the Al-Shabaab presence.
Abdulahi Abdisalan, Galmudug’s Deputy Minister of Security, said that the local administration invited the Puntland forces because of their experience in fighting Al-Shabaab.
