Puntland has sent its troops to Galmudug to support the region’s ongoing fight against the Al-Shabaab militants.
President Said Abdullahi Deni’s administration sent the troops on Wednesday, September 1.
Governor Abdilatif Muse Nur Sanyare of Puntland’s Mudug region confirmed this news during an interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
Galmudug has been carrying out a military operation to identify and eradicate the region of the presence of the militants.
Governor Sanyare told the BBC that the militants are likely to run out of luck soon now that the two regional states have joined hands.
Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, the Galmudug Minister of Security, posted updates of the joint military operation on his Facebook page.
In his update, Fiqi said that the Puntland forces were already at Wisil, a frontline town.
