Soldiers from the regional state of Puntland were up in arms over their delayed salaries.
Heavily-armed soldiers blocked the road linking Garowe to Galkayo on Monday. They were unhappy with the decision by the local administration not to pay them their monthly salaries.
Reportedly, the soldiers have not received their salaries for several months now.
According to insiders, the unpaid salaries are the effect of the months-long dispute between the local administration and opposition politicians over upcoming elections.
Dozens of trucks are unable to transport goods to central Somalia for two days now.
This represents the third time in the last few months that the Puntland forces have taken to the streets in protest over unpaid salaries.
