On Friday, Said Abdullahi Deni, Puntland’s President, summoned its representatives serving in the Federal Government of Somalia to urgent consultations. The summons came at a time when fallout seems to be imminent.
While addressing the press, President Deni said, “The FGS has violated the country’s constitution numerously. Furthermore, the government plans to kill the federal system. This move will be a huge setback to the efforts made to bring lasting peace and security in Somalia.”
President Deni says Puntland expects to meet its FGS representatives on March 15, 2020. The meeting will take place in Garowe. As part of the agenda, the representatives will discuss the future of Puntland and the role the state will play in implementing the federal system.
