The regional state of Puntland is ready to pursue stronger relations with Ethiopia.
A delegation of senior government officials from Puntland traveled to Addis Ababa for discussions with their Ethiopian counterparts.
Mohammed Farah Mohammed, Puntland’s Minister of Finance, led the delegation from the regional state.
They were received by Ambassador Mesganu Arga, Ethiopia’s State Minister of Foreign Affairs.
They discussed possible partnerships in trade, energy, investments, and infrastructure.
Arga restated Ethiopia’s strong desire for improved ties with Puntland.
The visit and subsequent discussions follow the announcement by Puntland that it would not recognize the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).
It’s worth noting that Somalia and Ethiopia have been at loggerheads for much of this year.
