Puntland Urges UN and International NGO Employees to Pay Taxes

The Puntland administration of President Musa Bihi Abdi has urged employees of United Nations and international non-governmental organizations (NGO) to pay taxes.

Mohamed Hared Farah, Puntland’s Attorney General, announced that workers who fail to pay taxes would have their licenses canceled.

He said that his office has names of up to 140 people working for either the UN or international NGOs in the country.

AG Farah said that his office has received reports indicating that the workers have not been paying local taxes.

“We have given these workers up to 27 August to clear their tax obligations. Our officers would come for anyone who fails to honor this instruction,” Farah announced.

Further, Farah warned workers who fail to adhere to this instruction to be ready to be fined in court or have their licenses revoked.
