Puntland has confirmed 11 new COVID-19 cases thus bringing its total to 136, the region’s Ministry of Health announced.
The region’s numbers are part of the 1,284 that Somalia already announced late this week.
Throughout Somalia, COVID-19 has already killed 53 people, with most of them reported in Mogadishu.
The Federal Government of Somalia has instituted several measures to curb the spread of the virulent disease.
However, all the measures are made difficult by the country’s fragile healthcare system, culture of Somalis, and lack of adequate testing and treatment facilities.
