The Qatari government has announced plans to launch a slew of educational and development projects in Somalia’s semiautonomous region of Jubaland.
Officials from the Middle East country announced these plans on Saturday. They said the Qatar Charity would oversee the projects.
Hassan bin Hamza Hashem, the Qatari Ambassador to Somalia, was accompanied by Mohamud Sayid Adan, the First Deputy President of Jubaland during Saturday’s event.
A high-level delegation featuring deputies and ministers serving in the Federal Government of Somalia or the Jubaland administration also attended the inauguration ceremony.
Hashem expressed appreciation of the government and people of Jubaland to Qatar for financing the upcoming projects.
The Deputy President reassured the people of Jubaland that the Qatar-funded projects would improve the quality of their lives significantly upon completion.
