Qatar has called for increased international developmental support for Somalia, emphasizing the need for a more robust and coordinated effort from the global community.
During various forums and diplomatic engagements, Qatar highlighted Somalia’s challenges.
This week, Turki Mohammed Abdullah Al-Khalifa, Qatar’s Third Secretary in the African Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, issued this call during an interactive session.
Such challenges include terrorism, poverty, and the impacts of climate change, and has stressed the importance of sustainable development and humanitarian aid in rebuilding Somalia’s institutions and infrastructure.
Qatar’s involvement in Somalia has been focused on areas like infrastructure, education, and economic development, alongside its humanitarian aid.
By advocating for more international support, Qatar is urging countries and organizations to invest in Somalia’s long-term stability and prosperity, particularly through capacity building and financial assistance.
