President Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoorqoor of Somalia’s semiautonomous region of Galmudug has successfully convinced his fellow Federal Member States (FMS) leaders to attend the ongoing Mogadishu talks on elections.
Qoorqoor has been meeting President Abdiaziz Mohamed Lafta-Gareen and President Mohamed Abdi Waare of Southwest and HirShabelle states respectively in Baidoa since early this week.
The three regional leaders chose to meet first to discuss the invitation President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo had extended to them to attend the ongoing Mogadishu talks together with President Said Abdullahi Deni of Puntland and President Ahmed Islam Madobe of Jubbaland.
Consequently, the three regional leaders are expected to travel to Mogadishu on Thursday September 10 to contribute to the fourth round of talks on the upcoming elections in the Horn of Africa nation.
