Mogadishu – A total of 39,382 students from across all Federal Member States (FMS) and the Banadir region participated in Somalia’s 2025 Grade 12 National Examinations, according to an official report released by the federal Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education.
This year’s exams were marked by a notable expansion and reform of the examination process, reflecting ongoing government efforts to standardize and strengthen the country’s education system.
Key improvements included enhanced monitoring systems, expanded subject choices, tighter safety protocols, and stronger integrity measures to ensure a fair and transparent national exam process.
Education officials praised the successful coordination between federal and state-level institutions, as well as community involvement in safeguarding the exams. The ministry highlighted that the rollout was the smoothest to date, attributing it to sustained investment in examination infrastructure and capacity-building for education personnel.
The Grade 12 National Exams are a critical gateway for Somali students seeking admission into higher education institutions and vocational training programs, both locally and abroad. The rising number of candidates signals growing confidence in Somalia’s public education system.
The ministry reiterated its commitment to continuous reform and called on partners to support the education sector as Somalia works toward achieving inclusive, quality education for all. Results of the 2025 exams are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
