Puntland, Jubbaland, Somaliland and members of the opposition in Somalia have announced the formation of a new political alliance.
The alliance is to be called National Salvation Council (NSC).
President Said Abdullahi Deni of Puntland and President Ahmed Islam Madobe of Jubbaland led their respective regional states in joining the new alliance.
Speaker Abdi Hashi of the Upper House (Senate) was also present at the talks as the most senior politician from Somaliland in the alliance.
Additionally, Speaker Hashi was appointed the Chairperson of the NSC.
The team that would be managing the affairs of the new alliance includes Speaker Hashi, ex-President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, President Madobe, and President Deni.
Ex-President Ahmed will be representing the interests of the Council of Presidential Candidates Union (CPC).
