Regional states have been encouraged to start registering candidates for Somalia’s Senate (Upper House) elections.
The Federal Indirect Electoral Team (FEIT) made the call to the Federal Member States (FMS) on Saturday, December 26.
FEIT issued a statement urging regional states to launch the registration of candidates interested in vying for Upper House seats throughout the country.
Further, the electoral team encouraged all candidates to submit their applications to the respective bodies for processing.
Elections for Upper House seats are expected to kick off from December 30.
According to the electoral team, elections for the Upper House seats should be completed by January 6, 2021.
