The registration of candidates interested in the position of Speaker of the Lower House and Upper House is underway in Mogadishu.
Candidates interested in this position have until Friday, April 22 to register their interests.
Recently, a joint session of both chambers of the federal parliament announced that the elections would take place before the end of the month.
Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe was the first to register.
Mohamed Omar Ali, a sitting Member of Parliament (MP), also registered his interest in the position of the First Deputy Speaker of the House of the People.
Senate (Upper House) elects its Speaker and Deputy Speakers on April 26 while the Lower House conducts its elections a day later.
