Religious leaders in Somali State in Ethiopia have rejected the violent ideology that Al-Shabaab has been propagating.
The leaders condemned Al-Shabaab after meeting with President Mustafe M. Omer of the Somali State in Ethiopia on Tuesday, August 2.
They issued a press statement afterward speaking out against the attempts by Al-Shabaab to attack towns in Somali State.
Furthermore, the leaders termed the ongoing fight against Al-Shabaab by Somali and Ethiopian forces a “religious duty.”
They commended the efforts by the security forces to foil the recent attacks by the militants in the region.
