Religious leaders held a meeting with several government officials in Somaliland as part of the campaign against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).
The meeting between the religious and government officials took place in Hargeisa on Monday, November 2.
The government officers included representatives from the Ministry of Health Development and Ministry of Religion.
Representatives from Somaliland Y-Peer, a development initiative established to promote youth-centric issues were also at the function.
They met to strategize on Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation campaign.
According to the participants, the campaign is essential for stopping FGM, which the recent 2020 Somaliland Health and Demographic Survey listed as common in the country.
