Officials say that soldiers from two rival camps clashed in Galka’ayo on Sunday. The soldiers, loyal to the Galmudug and Puntland administrations, fought in the Terage town of Galka’ayo.
The incident happened when troops from Puntland crossed over into Galka’ayo and started engaging their colleagues from Puntland.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that a soldier was killed during the skirmishes while three others were injured.
Further reports indicate that the rival troops are strengthening themselves in readiness for a looming showdown that could worsen insecurity in the region.
