Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has appointed Major General Bashir Mohamed Jama the new Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA).
Maj. Gen. Jama is a former NISA Director.
He takes over from Fahad Yasin, the immediate NISA Director, who was relieved of his duties by the Prime Minister on September 6.
Yasin and Roble had a falling out after the chief spy failed to honor the Prime Minister’s deadline regarding investigations into a female agent’s murder.
Roble had given Yasin a deadline of 48 hours to tell the country what really happened to Ikran Tahlil.
NISA claimed that Tahlil died at the hands of Al-Shabaab militants.
