Roble Briefed on UN’s Development and Humanitarian Plans for Somalia

Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble was briefed on the United Nations’ development and humanitarian plans for Somalia.

Adam Abdelmoula, the Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary General, met with and briefed Roble on the organization’s plans for Somalia.

The Deputy Special Representative assured Prime Minister Roble that the UN plans to support development and humanitarian efforts in the country for the years ahead.

He also reassured the new Prime Minister that the global organization would lend its support to efforts by the Federal Government of Somalia to develop the country.

Somalia is one of the worst hit countries on the humanitarian front.

In 2020, hundreds of thousands of Somalis in the country have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, increased floods, and the locust invasion.

Consequently, humanitarian needs have increased substantially in the East African nation.

The two leaders held their talks at the Office of the Prime Minister in Mogadishu on Thursday October 1.
