Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has called for immediate cessation of the conflicts in Galmudug.
The Prime Minister was speaking on October 2 on the fallout between the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Ahlu Sunna Wal Jama’a (ASWJ).
It’s almost 17 months since ASWJ militants in Galmudug were wiped out.
However, they seem to have returned with a vengeance. Generally, the militants seem to favor Galmudug as their stronghold.
They fought with Somali National Army (SNA) troops in a clash that left them in control of Guri El town.
On October 1, FGS deployed a fresh batch of soldiers to the region to conduct a joint operation with Galmudug Regional Forces and eradicate the presence of ASWJ fighters.
