Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble chaired the latest Council of Cabinet meeting on December 23.
Those present at the meeting discussed a wide range of issues.
Top on the list was national security, especially considering the emergence of military clashes in Bosaso, a commercial town in Puntland State.
Other topics that appeared in Thursday’s cabinet discussions included the need to expedite the completion of credible and transparent parliamentary elections in Somalia.
Most importantly, the Council of Cabinet also discussed the upcoming National Consultative Council (NCC) convention.
The convention is set for December 27.
It will take place in Mogadishu next week on Monday.
Participants at the convention are mostly likely to discuss the importance of holding credible elections for House of the People (Lower House) polls.
Claims of rigging, fraud, unfairness, and lack of transparency have dogged the ongoing parliamentary elections in different parts of the country.
