Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble denied traveling to Kenya to sign any international agreement on behalf of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).
Roble is in Kenya for a series of meetings with senior Kenyan officials and members of the Somali community.
He traveled to Kenya to honor an official invitation that he received from President Uhuru Kenyatta, which the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs – Raychelle Omamo – delivered to him over the weekend.
On August 12, he held a meeting in Nairobi with members of the Somali business community.
Leaders from the Somali community in the Kenyan capital also attended the meeting.
While addressing the businesspeople and leaders, Prime Minister Roble informed them that he wasn’t in Kenya to sign any deal.
His statement follows the recent directive by President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo ordering government officers from signing any agreement until after the elections.
Roble said that he hadn’t signed any agreement on the khat (miraa) trade between Kenya and Somalia.
Furthermore, he denied signing or discussing any maritime agreement with President Kenyatta.
