Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble discussed drought mitigation efforts in the country with a senior European Union (EU) diplomat.
Roble and Annette Weber, the EU Ambassador to the Horn of Africa region, held a meeting on Thursday, May 26 to discuss several issues.
The priority was the efforts that the Somali government and other stakeholders have put in to reduce the impact of the ongoing drought.
According to several sources, the drought and the ensuing humanitarian effort are the worst the country has experienced over the last 40 years.
Sources at the beginning said that Prime Minister Roble and Ambassador Weber discussed ways of strengthening ties between the EU and Somalia.
