Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has assured the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) of credible parliamentary and presidential elections in Somalia.
The Prime Minister said this while addressing UNSC members on November 23.
He addressed the members virtually, as part of the ongoing measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Prime Minister Roble also spoke about the recent developments in the East African nation. He said the Federal Government of Somalia remains committed to holding fair, free, and timely elections.
He also told the UNSC members that the government is intent on safeguarding the 30 percent women quota in the upcoming polls.
Roble informed the UNSC members that the government has developed a mechanism to guarantee women’s participation in political leadership in Somalia.
