Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble said that the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) is ready for genuine dialogue with the opposition.
Roble made this declaration on December 28.
In his statement, Prime Minister Roble assured members of the opposition that the government is committed to finding solutions for the elections impasse.
Lately, the government has come under increasing pressure over its preparedness for elections.
Most of the criticism has come from presidential candidates from the opposition though representatives of the international community have not held back.
Somalia was to hold local and parliamentary elections in December 2020 – something that seems increasingly unlikely.
Presidential elections were to follow in February 2021.
Roble assured the opposition that his team is genuinely ready for elections that solve the impasse so that the country votes in new leaders.
For several weeks now, the alliance of presidential candidates from the opposition has been calling for dialogue with the government.
