Roble to Defy Farmaajo Directive on Signing New Agreements before Elections

Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble is set to defy the recent directive by President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo warning government officers against signing new agreements with foreign entities.

On Saturday, President Farmaajo issued a decree prohibiting all bilateral agreements signed locally and internationally.

However, Roble believes the directive is designed to prevent him from carrying out his responsibilities.

On August 9, Prime Minister Roble asked his cabinet not to stop working.

Instead, he directed them to continue carrying out their duties as Council of Ministers until a new government takes office.

A statement from the Office of the Prime Minister said that the Council of Ministers shall continue working as per the dictates of Article 97, Clause 1 of the Provisional Constitution.
