Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has urged President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo to resign and start campaigning.
Roble said this on December 27 on a day of unprecedented tension between the Prime Minister and the President.
Farmaajo and Roble are the two senior-most leaders of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).
On Monday, Farmaajo announced that he had sacked Roble.
However, Roble refuted this report accusing Farmaajo of attempting a coup.
Farmaajo deployed his forces in an attempt to block Roble from accessing the Office of the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister reminded Farmaajo that the constitution empowers him to take charge of the ongoing elections.
He also informed President Farmaajo that the National Consultative Council (NCC) would kick off as earlier planned.
