Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has vowed that his administration plans to eliminate Al-Shabaab from Somalia.
Al-Shabaab has caused untold suffering and mayhem to Somalis for the last 14 years in the East African nation.
Roble made this vow a few weeks after he was sworn in as the country’s new Prime Minister.
The government announced that Somalia would conduct elections in December 2020 and February 2021.
For the majority of this year, Al-Shabaab has wreaked havoc by carrying out deadly attacks against innocent civilians and local and foreign security agents.
Roble said that the most effective strategy for eradicating the extremists involves forging close cooperation between the public and the Somali National Army (SNA).
Currently, Roble said that the existing framework eliminates input from members of the public, who are crucial in this fight.
