Mukhtar Robow has called for peace and forgiveness in the regional state of Southwest.
Robow, who was recently appointed as the Minister of Endowment and Religious Affairs, made the call on August 13.
The former deputy leader of the Al-Shabaab militant group urged the people of Somalia to “embrace peace and forgiveness.”
While admitting that his appointment had not gone down well with many Somalis, he thanked the people of Baidoa and asked them to embrace unity.
Robow was appointed after spending many years behind bars.
He fell out with the administration of the immediate former President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo.
