Round 2 of Somalia-Ethiopia Talks Set for Today in Ankara

Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan held separate meetings with the foreign ministers of Somalia and Ethiopia in Ankara.

Ahmed Fiqi traveled to Ankara for the Turkey-mediated talks over the weekend.

His Ethiopian counterpart Ambassador Taye Atske-Selassie is also in Turkey for the second round of talks.

The talks between Somalia and Ethiopia are scheduled for today.

Already, Fidan held separate meetings with Fiqi and Amb. Atske-Selassie.

He will then meet with them jointly in Ankara later in the day with a view to convincing them to call a truce.

Diplomatic ties between Somalia and Ethiopia have been frosty since January 1 this year.

This followed the signing of an agreement between Ethiopia and Somaliland, which Somalia considers part of its territory.
