Mogadishu – Colonel Elmi Nur, a senior official in Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), has accused outgoing Director Abdullahi Sanbalolshe of failing to fully hand over agency documents.
Col. Nur said that Sanbalolshe refused to hand over several crucial files to his successor during the recent leadership transition held in Mogadishu.
Sanbalolshe formally handed over the NISA office to the newly appointed Director, Mahad Salad, in a ceremony attended by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Sunday.
However, according to Col. Elmi, “many crucial files were withheld” despite multiple efforts to retrieve them.
The allegation casts a shadow over what appeared to be a smooth handover, raising questions about internal transparency and documentation practices within Somalia’s intelligence service.
The new leadership has not yet commented on the claims.
