Saudi Arabia Deploys First Ambassador to Somalia in 30 Years

Saudi Arabia has appointed its first ambassador to Somalia in around 30 years.

A communiqué from the Office of the Saudi Arabian King indicates that Ahmed bin Mohamed Al-Muwallad is to take up his role as the Ambassador to Somalia.

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud received credentials from Al-Muwallad before swearing him in on October 9.

Several senior Saudi government officials attended the swearing in ceremony.

These included Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman and Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the kingdom’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Others were Walid bin Abdul Karim, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Khaled bin Faisal Al-Sahli, the Assistant Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
