The Somali Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), GAVI, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Somalia, and other health partners, has officially launched the second round of the “Big Catch-up” initiative.
This campaign aims to address immunization gaps and ensure that children who missed routine vaccinations due to disruptions caused by conflict, displacement, or other challenges are reached.
The initiative prioritizes providing life-saving vaccines against preventable diseases such as measles, polio, and diphtheria, especially in underserved and hard-to-reach communities.
It underscores Somalia’s commitment to strengthening immunization systems and achieving broader health coverage for its population.
