Security agents in Baidoa, the administrative capital of Somalia’s Southwest State, foiled an attack by Al-Shabaab extremists on Thursday.
According to sources, local security officers what would have been the latest deadly attack in the region by Al-Shabaab extremists.
Vigilant police officers stopped and searched a Tuk-Tuk. Their search proved that the vehicle was being used to ferry explosive devices.
The officers seized the driver of the Tuk-Tuk and the devices he was ferrying.
Officers also arrested another person who was with the driver. A third suspect managed to suspect but police have launched a massive manhunt for him.
Baidoa is prone to frequent deadly attacks by members of the Al-Qaeda linked group.
Somali National Army (SNA), African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), and US Africa Command (AFRICOM) have been involved in joint military operations against the militants.
