Security Forces Nab Al-Shabaab Suspect for Mortar Attacks in Mogadishu

Security forces in Mogadishu seized a person suspected of being behind the recent surge in mortar attacks in the capital.

Multiple sources indicate that the person was arrested in Somalia’s capital on Saturday.

At the time, the suspected Al-Shabaab operative was attempting to launch a fresh round of mortar shell attacks in the nation’s capital.

The man, identified as Mohamed Hassan Ali, was arrested in Deynille district.

Thereafter, the security forces paraded him on the streets with the mortar shell launcher by his side.

Security agents stated that the man is well known to local residents, who confirmed that he has been a member of the Al-Qaeda linked militia group operating in the area for ages.

Recently, Al-Shabaab launched mortar shell attacks at Villa Somalia, the Presidential Palace in the capital city.

They have also done the same at UN compound in Mogadishu.
