Security has been tightened in Mogadishu ahead of the Somali Partnership Forum (SPF) that is scheduled to kick off on December 7.
According to sources, the forum is now expected to take place virtually after Puntland and Jubbaland pulled out over electoral differences with the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).
Puntland and Jubbaland leaders refused to attend the forum in person.
Multiple insiders confirmed that they would be participating in Monday’s crucial discussions digitally via Zoom.
Security officers are in Mogadishu to ensure that nothing goes awry during the much-anticipated forum.
In recent weeks, Mogadishu and other parts of the country have witnessed a surge in terror attacks and suicide bombing from Al-Shabaab fighters.
