Abdi Hashi, the Speaker of Senate (Upper House), has accused outgoing President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of “violating the country’s constitution.”
Speaking on February 17, Hashi cited several “illegal commissions” that Farmaajo had appointed into office without involving the relevant institutions.
Furthermore, he faulted the recently appointed technical committee, which is mandated to find solutions to the inability to hold a conference on elections.
In Speaker Hashi’s views, neither the technical committee nor the conference the government hopes to hold with regional states is representative of the interests of Somaliland.
Hashi hit out at the clear bias the government practices against Somaliland as further proof of Farmaajo’s continued violation of the Provisional Constitution of Somalia.
