Senator Muse Sudi Affirms Somalia’s Commitment to One-Person, One-Vote System

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Voter registration for the forthcoming local council elections is gaining substantial traction throughout the Benadir region as the capital readies for the historic polls slated for the 25th of this month. High-ranking officials from Somalia’s Federal Government have toured multiple districts to promote civic engagement and supervise the issuance of voting cards.

Senator Haji Muse Sudi Yalahow, a key political figure, obtained his voter registration card today in the Kaaraan District. Addressing the assembled crowd and media representatives, the Senator encouraged citizens to adequately prepare for the democratic undertaking. He stressed that the nation’s political course has undergone a profound transformation. “Somalia has embraced a one-person, one-vote electoral framework, and there is absolutely no reversal to indirect elections,” Senator Muse Sudi affirmed, indicating an irrevocable conclusion to the clan-based selection methods previously employed.

The Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, H.E. Ali Yusuf Ali (Hosh), also engaged with Kaaraan District residents during the registration initiative. Concurrently, the former Hirshabelle State President, Mr. Ali Abdullahi Osoble, acquired his voting credentials in the Heliwaa District, further illustrating the FGS push to display political support for the electoral process, while members of the opposition, including former presidents, prime ministers and leaders have distance themself from the FGS led Benadir election.
