Recent reports indicate that intensified airstrikes by Somali forces, in collaboration with international partners, have continuously targeted key Al-Shabaab strongholds in Jilib, which is in the Middle Juba region.
Reportedly, these operations have resulted in the deaths of over 120 militants, including senior commanders, and have led to the destruction of critical infrastructure such as administrative centers, training facilities, and explosives-making compounds.
In response to these sustained assaults, Al-Shabaab leaders have reportedly fled Jilib, leaving the town in disarray. Commanders who once moved freely in the town have abandoned what was once the group’s central command hub, seeking refuge in surrounding forests and farms. The town is now eerily deserted as fear grips the remaining militants.
These developments underscore the effectiveness of the coordinated efforts by Somali forces and their international allies in disrupting Al-Shabaab’s operations and diminishing their territorial control.
