Senior Somali National Army (SNA) commanders inspected a recently liberated coastal town in central Somalia.
The commanders were at Mareeg coast for the inspection tour on Saturday.
For years, Mareeg has been under the control of Al-Shabaab militants. Recently, an operation by SNA and its partners led to the area’s liberation from the militants.
While under Al-Shabaab’s control, they used it as their hub for smuggling weapons.
Al-Shabaab also used Mareeg as their hub for smuggling foreign fighters into the country.
