A Somali National Army (SNA) military operation in Awdinle led to the deaths of at least two members of Al-Shabaab.
The Monday operation, which took place 30kms west of Baidoa, was yet more proof of SNA’s ability to crash members of the Al-Qaeda linked group.
Gen. Mohamed Sheikh, the Commander of SNA’s 60th Division, confirmed to reporters that the operation also netted several other militants who are now in custody.
According to Gen. Sheikh, this week’s successful operation is part of a nationwide effort to destabilize Al-Shabaab and render them powerless to continue carrying out more raids.
Lately, Al-Shabaab has been on a revival that has seen them attacking government troops, officers, and civilians.
Furthermore, the extremist group has been involved in several Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attacks around the country.
