Several Somali federal lawmakers have expressed concerns over a recent judicial agreement with Türkiye, criticizing the government for not presenting past agreements to parliament for review.
Among the critics is legislator Ahmed Abdi Koshin, who has raised questions about Ankara’s motives, asking whether the agreement is driven by economic influence or genuine public interest.
Koshin has called for a freeze on the agreement until previous deals are disclosed and properly examined.
This pushback highlights ongoing tensions between the executive and legislative branches in Somalia, particularly regarding transparency and accountability in international agreements.
