Several soldiers lost their lives when Al-Shabaab militants attacked a military base in Kudhaa on September 3.
Reports from the region say that the soldiers attacked a military base that is located 130kms to the south of Kismayo.
According to sources, the militants forced their way into the military base on Friday.
However, Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers at the base repulsed the few extremists who had briefly taken control of the base.
Latest information indicates that SNA soldiers are back in full control.
A number of soldiers were killed in the skirmishes. An unknown number of extremists were also killed during the heavy fighting between the two sides.
