Supporters of Gen. Sheegow Ahmed Ali took to the streets of Mogadishu to protest his arrest by Somali Police Force (SPF) officers.
Gen. Sheegow, a former Somali National Army (SNA) officer, was arrested on Saturday.
His arrest followed hours of confrontation between his militia and security personnel.
Police arrested him following reports that his militia have been robbing and terrorizing residents.
On Sunday, his supporters took to the streets to demonstrate their displeasure. Their protests kicked off at Dharkenley and moved all the way to Sayid Junction next to Villa Somalia.
