Six Dead and Seven Missing in Fresh Puntland Flash Floods

Fresh flash floods in Puntland have left six people dead while causing the disappearance of seven more.

Consequently, the government has activated search and rescue missions in the area.

The flash floods occurred following a night of heavy rainfall on Monday, which caused several homes to submerge.

Additionally, it also swept cars and food stores aside while not sparing essential structures in the region too.

Speaking to Garowe Online on phone, several victims said the flash floods caused massive displacement.

Amateur rescuers spent most of Monday night searching desperately for bodies of the victims. Many of them rushed downstream to look for dead bodies too.

The tragedy is the latest to hit Somalia, which has been battling COVID-19 cases for the last couple of months.

Similarly, the Horn of Africa nation has been conducting an intense war against Al-Shabaab and other extremist groups that seek to make the country ungovernable and insecure.
